A 1,400-year-old lake, which is perfect for morning jogs and bird watching in Bengaluru City!
Having my best friend @Rasamby in one of the beautiful city that I love to visit anytime, I have been to Jayanagar so many times for shopping with him, but never had an idea that it has a hidden beauty of nature around it.
During my Dec-2019 visit, when I was looking for the best location for Birds photography and to spend some time with nature, he took me to this beautiful Yeidyur Lake.

It is quite amazing to see you have such a wonderful like in the midst of the City, that too in the Jayanagar area. The Lake sits at the edge of Basavanagudi and said to be one of the last standing lakes in the city which is popular with the local people.

The lake was taken up for restoration work in 2017 by BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) and they have built a jogging track around the lake and the entire area is filled with trees and plants to make the environment good enough to spend more time all around.

Spread over almost 11.5 acres, the water-body is home to over 141 varieties of birds from 59 countries and also the home for 56 species of Indian birds.
Eco-friendly boat rides have been started from Dec-2018 on this historic lake, which attracts several migratory birds during the winter.

The ride is for 30 minutes at a cost of Rs.50/-. Only pedal boats are operated, to prevent pollution as motorboats may cause diesel leakage thereby harming aquatic life.

Being the winter season we throughly enjoyed the few hours we spent and I would definitely like to visit again during another wonderul winter.
